About
My first recollection of the landscape was as a young lad growing up in a small village on Bodmin Moor and being mesmerised as the incandescent crimson disc of the sun slowly raised itself over moody, misty moorland. The seed was planted. Much later skiing in the Alps and separated from friends I noticed somehow the quiet haunting effect of the late afternoon sun, something to this day a feeling I can’t accurately describe; but I still experience this ethereal force. The continual search to find light that moves me is what drives me to be out there behind the camera; the importance of the quality of light is paramount.
On moving to Scotland and tackling many of its mountains, the ‘I was there’ images weren’t enough to represent the beauty of what I witnessed and wanted to share. I bit the bullet, added better photography gear to my equipment and started to capture some of the wonderful visual feasts that I saw. Now I am able to more accurately share what I see.
I love emotion and anything that touches the heart or soul, be it music, the written word or an image. Hopefully at least one image in this collection will stir something in you, the viewer and take you to a far off place and time. I would ask of you one thing; to find an image that catches your eye, spend a little time with it and try to absorb some of the nuances held within. Notice tiny details, feel the breeze on your face, how warm or cold it might be, is the ground you’re standing on rock, soft turf or snow; be a part of the image. If I am able to stir an emotion in you with only one image, then the image has been a success and so have I.
Many thanks for visiting and be sure to call back for new content.
